Campaign Focus Points
Strengthen Community Centers and Food Systems for a Healthier Toledo
My academic research/background focuses on Black food geographies, food activism, urban agriculture, and community development. One of my charges is to analyze and improve food systems through innovative, community-driven approaches, including urban agriculture for regional regeneration.

I also focus on enhancing place-based community centers, which are vital to my Toledo upbringing. By strengthening these centers and promoting self-care and educational programs, we can address neighborhood issues, empower residents, and improve their overall quality of life. I’m committed to advancing these initiatives for the betterment of Toledoans.
My Approach
Economic development model using urban agriculture
Conservation of the role and impact of community centers
Promotion of programs focused on self-care and education
Committed Community Leader
As a committed community leader, I serve on the NAACP Executive Board, am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Toledo Alumnae Chapter, Chair of the Ohio Food Policy Network, and other local and national organizations dedicated to social justice and
community development.
Nominations and Awards
I have been nominated for several awards, such as a 20 Under 40 Nominee (Toledo), the BLM Community Activist Award, and the African-American Legacy Project Young Leader Award. Envision a Toledo where empowerment, quality of life, and environmental stewardship lead our progress. This is what I will fight to achieve as your dedicated Councilwoman. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What are your top priorities for Toledo if re-elected?
My top priorities include improving our public infrastructure, ensuring access to quality education, enhancing public safety, promoting economic development and job creation, and investing in sustainable environmental practices to protect our natural resources.
2. How do you plan to address the issue of affordable housing in Toledo?
I plan to work closely with community organizations, developers, and stakeholders to expand affordable housing options. This includes utilizing available federal and state grants, creating incentives for developers to build affordable units, and implementing policies that protect renters and homeowners from unfair practices.
3. What steps will you take to boost the local economy and create jobs?
To boost the local economy, I will focus on attracting new businesses to Toledo, supporting small and minority-owned businesses, investing in workforce development programs, and enhancing the city’s infrastructure to make Toledo a more attractive place for businesses to operate.
4. How will you address the concerns surrounding public safety in our community?
Public safety is a priority, and I plan to address it by increasing community policing efforts, providing our law enforcement with the resources they need, investing in crime prevention programs, and fostering strong community relationships to ensure a collaborative approach to safety.
5. What are your plans for improving education in our city?
I am committed to improving education by advocating for increased funding for public schools, supporting teacher development programs, expanding access to early childhood education, and working with local colleges and universities to create pathways for our students to succeed in higher education and vocational training.
6. How will you ensure that Toledo's infrastructure meets the needs of its residents?
I will prioritize repairing and upgrading roads, bridges, and public transportation systems. Additionally, I will work on securing grants and state funds to support these projects and ensure that our infrastructure can support future growth and development in Toledo.
7. What is the difference between an At-Large and a District council person?
There is very little difference between both types of Council persons. District Council persons are concerned with constituents and their issues within certain neighborhood boundaries, where as At-Large is concerned about residents and their issues over the entire city.
